Job description

Production Intelligence is seeking a creative and enthusiastic researcher, responsible for building up relationships with production companies, studios and line producers to track upcoming productions for our users. Predominantly the researcher will focus on telephone calls, follow up emails, web research and following industry news sites to update our CMS system. Research also involves digging through email alerts, social media, industry events, trade publications, external news media etc.

 

This is a role suited to someone who is knowledgeable about and displays a passion for the UK production industry, either through their work background or through extra curricular pursuits. They must also have excellent telephone skills similar to those required in sales and marketing.

 

The role involves regular contact and relationship-building with well-known established industry figures, so we are looking for somebody who is confident, comfortable with networking and who respects confidentiality. Benefits include travel attendance to some industry events in the UK and the potential to grow within the media industry.

 

Job duties and responsibilities

Primarily the content researcher will have responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and relevance  of data for new productions.

This includes, among other things:

  • Researching production companies and keeping track of their recent and upcoming work through contacts, email alerts, social media, industry events, trade publications, external news media and other sources
  • Researching USA based projects and companies – which involves regularly calling the USA 6pm-8pm e.g twice a month
  • Ensuring that contact details for production companies and crew fields are populated on each production
  • Continuously tracking productions and where needed updating profiles
  • Developing long-lasting and effective relationships with production companies, producers, line producers and other relevant industry figures
  • Ensuring contact details are kept up to date
  • Promoting the service wherever possible (editorial, events, bulletins)

 

Other responsibilities
  • Assisting with putting together The Knowledge weekly bulletin and contributing to and compiling the Production Intelligence weekly roundup and contributing and assisting with other editorial tasks as required e.g. proof reading
  • Participating in/taking ownership of special projects as and when required

 

Person Specification
  • Excellent telephone manner i.e. friendly but tenacious!
  • Experience within the media industry, including sales and marketing, and/or research roles
  • Accuracy in diary keeping and writing summaries of production news stories
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Social media management
  • Strong copy editing
  • Good IT skills
